The Group comprises over 300 enthusiastic staff based in Central London. Of these, a core of 25 staff specialise in maritime projects and a number of others interchange between maritime and infrastructure projects. There are active networks within the Company globally for staff with similar interests.
Role and Responsibilities
To lead maritime structural design co-ordination of complex structures.
Leading structural designs and setting the structural analysis and design strategy to an appropriate level.
To review structural engineering designs and advise on design and build concepts and details.
Design management of maritime projects
Assist the business to win work
Responsible for small to medium sized teams of structural engineers in the delivery of complex structural solutions to design problems.
Responsible for the development of the maritime team’s capability and skills in structural engineering including mentoring and training of younger engineers.
Promoting learning opportunities from successes and problems that arise.
Working for contractors developing buildable structural design solutions.
Brings long term benefit for internal or external stakeholders as part of the project/team.
Drives forward innovation in the design of maritime infrastructure.
Represents the maritime team on multi-disciplinary projects.
Network internationally within the Company and prepare bids and maintain client relationships
Assist in the management of the maritime team in London.
Business trips with UK and overseas would occasionally be required.
Requirements and Skills
Chartered status through IStructE, ICE or other relevant body.
Degree qualified: Masters Engineering Degree or equivalent.
Essential Skills and Experience
Minimum 10 years’ experience of the structural design and detailing of steel, reinforced concrete and pre-stressed concrete maritime structures
Experience of Eurocodes and BS 6349 and awareness of ISO and DNV offshore standards
Experience of structural analysis packages
Experience in applications of marine hydrodynamic and berthing/ mooring or ship impact loads
Desirable Skills And Knowledge
Awareness of geotechnical design and soil-structure interaction as well as pile design, slope stability and shoring structures e.g. deep quay walls by use of Finite Element Analysis
Maintenance, rehabilitation and asset management principles
Independent checking, Cat2/3 checks, alternative solutions and optimisation
Experience in client relationship management and bidding
Experience of managing and delivering maritime design projects on time and on budget
for small to medium size projects
